My first IS lesson: the internet and WWW

On the first lesson of IS, Mr kent briefed the class on some basic things about the internet like the uses of internet, and how the internet works. From the basics, we have to select a broadband provider,which will allow us the access of internet using our computer. Next, we can search for information on the internet, as the internet itself has become an archive of information.Information about almost anything and everything with the help of a search engine can be found on the internet with a few keywords typed in and ending with a click on the enter button, millions of results will appear on the screen. Next, we also learnt something about what a domain name is. Basically, since the computer cannot read alphabets but only codes, codes are represented by alphabets since human also cannot read codes. Example: if you want to go to yahoo.com, you type in the URL address in words, not the code, like 67.547.97.812(example). The first IS lesson was certainly enjoyable and taught me about many interesting things.
